1 November, 7.30pm: Lecture Esther Da Costa Meyer, Princeton

HKU|SSC - Stamp Fall 2

On Thursday November 1st we will have professor Esther Da Costa Meyer lecturing in our series ‘Follow the Money’.
Professor Da Costa Meyer teaches modern architecture from the late eighteenth century to the present. She is completing a book on urban change and social history in nineteenth-century Paris. Her published work has focused on issues of the interface between architecture and the others arts, and on the formal and theoretical issues informing architecture of the last decade.

In her talk, she will discuss one of the most direct relations between architecture and the financial, namely architecture of bank buildings in 19th century Paris. Da Costa Meyer: ‘The finest buildings I know were the magnificent banks that no one talks about. These buildings were revolutionary in every way and are still magnificent.’
