On 2 February, we will be kicking off our Spring 2015 public program with a talk by Eva Franch i Gilabert, Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Storefront for Art and Architecture at 7:00pm. She will discuss how the New York City-based institution has served as a platform for the understanding of cities, territories and public life.

Cultural institutions around the world are dedicated to collect and present either past or contemporary forms of knowledge. Storefront for Art and Architecture is an institution dedicated to the production of alternatives. Its program of exhibitions, events, competitions, publications and special projects provides an alternative platform for dialogue and collaboration across disciplinary, ideological, and geographic boundaries. Through its physical and digital platforms, Storefront provides an open forum for experiments that impact the understanding and future of cities, territories and public life.

Eva Franch is an architect. Since 2010, Franch is the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Storefront for Art and Architecture. Previously, Franch has taught at Columbia University GSAPP, the IUAV University of Venice, SUNY Buffalo and at Rice University School of Architecture. In 2004 she founded her solo practice OOAA (Office Of Architectural Affairs) while building in Catalonia. Her work has been exhibited internationally including FAD Barcelona, the Venice Architecture Biennale and the Shenzen Architecture Biennale among others.
