课程研究基地：虹口港。虹口区，也是香港大学上海学习中心（HKUSSC, Shanghai Study Center, The University of Hong Kong）所在地，它的名字来源于一条从北向南贯穿的小溪——虹口港。2017春季学期，香港大学建筑系的3个教学基地被选定在虹口港的沿岸。虹口港一直是上海近代工业和商业发展的重要地区——向上追溯到清代，江南军工总厂等重要的军事设施沿河而建；此外还有1933屠宰场和中央电站等，已被转型为创意产业园，成为上海最受欢迎的旅游景点之一。这3处地点都是从南到北分布在虹口港沿岸，并各具特点。它们可以从环境、经济和社会的角度生动地反映出上海的城市剖面。
Site of Research：Hongkou Pier creek. Hongkou district, where HKUSSC is located, derives its name from a creek named Hongkou Pier that runs from north to south. The selected 3 sites of the 2018 Summer Workshop are located in different locations yet all along the creek. Hongkou Pier has been an important area for industrial and commercial development in the modern history of Shanghai. Dated back to the Qing dynasty, important military factories e.g. Jiangnan Manufacture General Bureau has been set up along the creek. The 1933 slaughter-house and central power-station , both located along the river, have been transformed to creative industry park and became one of the most popular touristic attractions since. All 3 sites are of very different architectural qualities and they can represent a vivid urban section of Shanghai in terms of its environmental, economical and social conditions.
课程目标：利用香港大学建筑学院的教学方式与设计方法，学生在港大老师及教授的带领下，完成一份城市研究报告及建筑单体设计（市政设施更新、工业遗产更新、棚户区更新，三选一）通过这次workshop，学生们将：
- 学会如何观察建成环境（built environment）；
- 学会从观察和调研中提取出重要的数据；
- 学会通过不同的媒介（media）和方法来展现城市空间的不同方面；
- 学会如何做研究（research）
- 学会通过问题解决型思路来推进设计
- 了解建筑与城市微更新的全球经验和先例
Courses Goals：Students should deliver a research report and an architecture/urban design proposal based on the thematic of regeneration of infrastructure, industrial heritage or informal residence) using the research methodology taught during the workshop. Students are expected to achieve the following goals:
1) How to read and observe the built environment
2) Extract data based on the observations and fieldworks
3) How to represent and map various aspects of urban space through different media.
4) Research methodology
5) Problem-solving anddesign strategies6) Understanding of global experience and precedents on architecture/urban micro renewal

*住宿为同济大学干训楼或同价位等酒店标准间（要求入住单间的需补差价）
