Architecture of Artifacts: Excerpts from a Diaspora Manifesto

Lecturer

Darren Zhou is a Principal at SKEW Collaborative, an award-winning design and research office based in Shanghai and Hong Kong. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong Shanghai Study Center and is a LEED accredited professional. Darren obtained his Bachelors from Columbia University, where he was awarded the top departmental honors, and his Masters from Princeton University.

SKEW Collaborative has been recognized in international publications and accolades, such as the Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Award, European LEAF Award, Perspective Global Award, and 50 Under 50: Innovators of the 21st Century, amongst others. Darren Zhou has also been awarded the 40 Under 40 Award from Perspective Global.

The theoretical and critical bent of Darren’s practice are complemented by his own involvement in academia. Besides lecturing at HKU-SSC, he is also the co-director and co-founder of the Cities in Asia Program, an accredited summer studio that brings international students to different Asian cities, in order to understand the complexities of Asian urbanism.
